Arts and History in the Logan Area

The Arts are alive in Logan County and its surrounding areas and there are a variety of ways visitors can enjoy them.  Take in the history of our coalfields in one of our region's museums.  Enjoy the latest blockbuster on a wall to wall wide screen.  You may even want to catch a live performance at one of our theatres featuring a wide range of shows from broadway musicals and historical dramas to gospel concerts.  You're sure to be entertained!


Museums

Bituminous Coal Heritage Foundation Museum
A look at the state's history of coal mining featuring artifacts, documents, and oral history recordings.  Located just 15 minutes from Chapmanville.

Museum in the Park
Free admission cultural center showcasing artwork and archives from the WV State Archives and Museum.  Located just four miles from Logan in beautiful Chief Logan State Park.  Alternating exhibits throughout the year. Call for hours as they vary with the season.

Theatres

The Aracoma Story, Inc.
West Virginia's longest-running outdoor theatre company.  Live performances presented at different times of the year.  Summer performances featuring the historical drama, The Aracoma Story, presented at the Liz Spurlock Amphitheatre in Chief Logan State Park.  Call box office for show times and ticket information.

Coalfield Jamboree
Located in the for Logan Theatre in downtown Logan, this restored facility plays host to concerts, revues, and local events of all types.  Call for schedule and ticket information.
