POSTPONED UNTIL SPRING 2022

   First stop the infamous Don Chafin House, tours will be given at 1:00, 2:00 and 3:00 p.m.  Take a minute at the front porch to listen to the Honorable Judge Josh Butcher portraying the character of Sheriff Don Chafin!  The monologue is written by local author, Keith Davis.  This event is hosted by the Women’s Club of Logan.  You know you want to sneak a peek at this legendary home!  Tours are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. & 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 11, 2021.  The Don Chafin house is located at 581 Main Street, Logan, WV.

    Travel on to the next activity in the downtown Courthouse Square of Logan, WV.  You will be treated to the wonderful sounds of live music as you enjoy “A Taste of the Coalfields”, a fine sampling of Appalachian cuisine. Enjoy the music of Roger Bryant, Bobby Taylor and the Modock Rounders, Almost Heaven Dulcimer Club and local native, Braydon Williamson. This event is scheduled from 4:00 – 6:30 on Friday, September 10, 2021.

     Walk on down the street to the Coalfield Jamboree Theatre for more great music as a host of Vandalia award winners grace the stage.   The Vandalia Award is West Virginia’s highest folklife honor.  There will be (5) Vandalia award winners on stage.  The music begins at 6:30 p.m. as these artisans perform:  Roger Bryant, Liam Farley, Bill Hairston, Chris Haddox, Bobby Taylor and the Modock Rounders, Samples Brothers and Braydon Williamson. It will be an evening to remember.

The journey continues to Chief Logan Lodge Hotel/Conference Center, 1000 Conference Center Drive, Logan, WV as authors, storytellers and workshops dive into the history and heritage of Appalachian.  The fun begins at 9:00 a.m.  and doesn’t end until 5:00 p.m.  Learn about Songwriting and Ballads, traditional music, Dulcimer and banjo, traditional fiddle & bluegrass fiddle just to name a few.  Authors speaking include James Baldwin, Kathy Manley, Brandon Dennison, Michael Knost, Carter Taylor Seaton, Cora Hairston, Christy Bailey, Chris Haddox, Roger Bryant, Mack Samples, Buddy Griffin, David O’Dell, Bobby Taylor, Kim Johnson, Braydon Williamson.  There will be arts and crafts vendors on site as well.
