Welcome in spring at the 37th Annual Sue Browning Wildflower Hike! Hikes begin at 10:00 a.m. Plan to arrive early (by 9:00 a.m.) for a wildflower identification presentation to learn about wildflowers and buds you may observe on the trails at Chief Logan State Park.
Participants have the option of taking a traditional hike along the park’s 3-mile long Woodpecker Trail, or a leisurely walk along the Fitness and Shawnee Trails, which are approximately 2 miles total. Both the guided walk and hike begin at 10:00 a.m. and depart from the park office/museum. Those participating in the hike/walk will receive a pass for a special guided tour of the wildlife exhibit with Naturalist Lauren Cole.
Refreshments and a bite to eat will be provided by The Women’s Club of Omar.
Free to attend and open to the public, these are good programs for folks in garden clubs, hiking groups, master naturalist, or generally curious folks. Families looking for an outdoor activity to learn more about flora and fauna with youth are encouraged to participate.
