Wild about Wildflowers

April 18, 2020 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

Wild About Wildflowers is another opportunity to spy spring wildflowers with a park naturalist.

Did you miss our first two wildflower hikes? Don’t worry, you didn’t miss the flowers because in spring you’ll discover more buds and blooms each week in April and well into May!

Join park naturalist Lauren Cole at the bell in front of the Museum in the Park at 10:00 a.m. to head out on a long walk to see the park’s wildflowers. This walk will take the Fitness and Shawnee trails, for a total of about 2 miles of walking. The pace is easy because we stop to look for and talk about spring blooms and relationships between flora and fauna in West Virginia.

Free to attend and open to the public, this is a good program for folks in garden clubs, hiking groups, master naturalist, or generally curious folks. Families looking for an outdoor activity to learn more about spring wildflowers with youth are encouraged to participate.

For overnight lodge reservations or to inquire about restaurant specials, call 304-855-6100. For interpretive activities and programs like these, email [email protected].
